2. Hosting & infrastructure

This website is hosted on servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany). Hetzner processes data on my behalf as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR and is contractually bound to a data processing agreement. Server infrastructure is located in Germany/EU.

Traffic is routed through Cloudflare, Inc. (via Cloudflare Germany GmbH), which provides content delivery (CDN), DNS resolution, and protection against bots and denial-of-service attacks. Cloudflare processes technical connection data (e.g. IP address, request headers, timestamps) to route traffic and mitigate abuse. This may involve data transfer to Cloudflare group companies outside the EU/EEA; where this occurs, it is safeguarded by EU Standard Contractual Clauses. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

Whenever you visit this site, technical access data (e.g. IP address, browser type, referrer, date and time of the request) is temporarily processed in server log files by Hetzner and Cloudflare to serve the site securely and reliably. This is done on the basis of my legitimate interest in the stable and secure operation of the website (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR).

3. Website analytics

I use a self-hosted instance of Umami (running on my own Hetzner server at analytics.mogler.dev) to understand how visitors use this site. Umami does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses, and does not track you across websites — it only produces aggregated, anonymous statistics (e.g. page views, referrers, device type). No data is shared with third parties. Legal basis is my legitimate interest in analyzing and improving this website (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR).

4. Contact form

If you use the contact form, I process the data you enter (name, email address, message) in order to respond to your inquiry. The message is sent via email through an SMTP server and is not stored in a separate database. Legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR (steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract) and, where no contract results, my legitimate interest in handling inquiries (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR). Data is deleted once your inquiry has been fully resolved, unless legal retention obligations apply.

hCaptcha

To protect the contact form from spam and automated abuse, I use hCaptcha, a service provided by Intuition Machines, Inc. (USA). When you complete the form, hCaptcha processes technical data such as your IP address, browser information, and interaction data to verify that you are human. This may involve a transfer of data to the USA. Legal basis is my legitimate interest in preventing spam and abuse (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR). See hCaptcha's privacy policy for details.

5. Links to third-party & social profiles

This website links to external profiles on GitHub, Codeberg, and LinkedIn. These are plain hyperlinks — no data is transmitted to these platforms merely by visiting this site or displaying the link. Once you click a link and leave this website, the respective provider's own privacy policy applies.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• access the personal data I hold about you (Art. 15),
• request rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16),
• request erasure of your data (Art. 17),
• request restriction of processing (Art. 18),
• receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20),
